Day 465

Yes. Another picture of a bee. I'm sorry. Is this better or worse than tons pictures of Boone? Hahah.

I spent most of today cleaning and doing chores. Felt great. I think I may have been sniffing too many cleaning chemicals in the bathroom though, when I came out after scrubbing everything my eyes were pretty dialated. Harsh chemicals freak me out dude.

I also re-did the banner on top of my blog. What do you think? It's a bit big, but it's growing on me. I find that every time I make one of these banners my skill just improves because I find new things and new ideas that I want to experiment with.

I was also thinking about changing the name of my blog. I've never been happy with "Rachel's Photo A Day" but I can never think of anything clever. I keep hoping that one day the right name will strike me. I've always liked" Rebel Rachel" but I think most of my friends in the photographic community would immediately think of me as a Canon person (heck no! haha) and my real life friends will call me out for the wuss I really am. Still. I'm a defiant little thing sometimes, I don't think calling me a rebel is that inaccurate.

Best Wishes,
Rach

Hi! I found your blog from a comment you left at another blog. The bee is not bad. Nicely composed and the background is perfectly blurred. Thanks for sharing! Here is my entry. Oh, great job on keeping up on the photo a day blog. Do you take a new photo every day or post something every day? I attempted a new photo every day and about 7 months into it I had to quit because it took up too much time. My style did develop and images improved. What have you noticed in your photography? Good job for keeping up on it!

I do take a new photo every day, though it might not always be with my high quality camera. I'd say right now I'm about 50/50 with my Nikon D80 and my iPhone camera. Of course, the photos taken with my Nikon are usually the better ones :)

It's not always about the art of the photograph for me, it's about documentation of my life. I'd say in the last year and a half of taking a daily photo I've learned a lot about proper exposure and clarity; I don't like a lot of editing done to my images, mostly resizing for storage reasons on the blog, and playing around with my camera and learning the functions has helped cut down on "corrective" editing.

Dedication is important too. There might not always be something interesting to photograph, but in a year or two or three I know I'll be pissed at myself if I didn't upload SOMETHING from that specific date. We live in such a technology heavy world that for someone like me, who loves telling stories through photographs, not taking at least one photo a day would be a missed opportunity :)

Thank you so much for saying hello!

Hi Rach,I think something's gone awry with your new banner? I get a gigantic exclamation mark on a black background, Have a feeling that's not what you've created :p I'm using firefox. I like the bee picture, lovely colours!

Crap! Thanks for the heads up Kat. It was working last night but now I see the same thing that you do. Not cool, blogger.

Alright, I think I fixed it. Let me know if you're still having that problem though, would ya? I've tried it in two browsers now and it works for me in both so I'm hoping the issue is fixed :)

Wonderful shot. I'm on Day 421 of my 365. Like you, I just couldn't stop. I think it's the best way ever to record memories. And I take a ton of pictures of my dog! Lol.

I will be blogging again next month. July and August are so very busy for me looking after my grandchildren during holidays. I don't have time to think let alone cook properly :)
