Day 90

This movie was absolutely amazing and made me SO greatful I have a Blu-Ray player.

Actually convinced my Dad to watch it with me this evening. He kept falling asleep, so I don't think he liked it very much, mostly because he wasn't really following what was going on.
The visuals pretty much blew Avatar out of the water... and apparently very little of it was computer generated. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie this good.

Day 89

Didn't do much today, just relaxed since yesterday was so busy. Did snap this cute shot of Boone though :)

Day 88

Waking up at 9am, and already having 10 facebook comments wishing you a happy birthday was not a bad way to start the day!

I'm 25 today. Wow :) Kari and I spent the day making red velvet cupcakes and getting our picnic dinner ready. Thanks for helping out Kari! We had fun!

Correct, I had pirate and princess cupcake papers for my 25th Birthday. What's it to you? :)
Lesson learned, don't let Kari open the wine bottles! Look at what she did to that cork!

Yes, I did drink this entire bottle on my own. Yes, I got really tipsy.

"If growing up means it would be beneath my dignity to climb a tree, I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!" I've never been much of a tree climber, but I do love rolling down hills. Thank you Natalie for accessing your inner child and rolling down this hill with me, even though we crashed into each other!!!

"Quantos cumpleaƱos, little boy? "HAHAHA. This little kid just decided to join our picnic and went all David Beckham on us... IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR BLANKETS. It was reaaaallly funny. He didn't appear to speak much English, so I tried to ask him how old he was in Spanish. Instead I asked him "How many birthdays?" I should watch the "One Semester of Spanish Love Song" video more to brush up.

I didn't make a wish. Mostly I forgot because everyone was busy screaming at Stephanie and Kari to come downstairs and join in the singing, LOL! But you know, I think I just didn't need to make a wish because there was nothing else in that moment that I wanted. Yeah, I need a job, and yeah, I need to get back on program with my weight loss, but I finally realized that I'm content and happy and a whole person again, and that's enough.

What a lucky girl I am to have so many wonderful people in my life who were here to share my birthday with me, whether that be in person(my family and friends who were with me today), a facebook convesation (Kristin), or a skype call (Robbie). I love you all and thank you so much for celebrating with me, it was a very special and happy birthday.

Day 87

I had my job interview today. I applied for a receptionist position in a legal firm in downtown Portland a few weeks ago, and their office manager called me in for an interview. It's in an awesome building off of Burnside and the people seemed so nice!

I felt like the interview went well, however there was a bit of a problem. There were two jobs open, the receptionist position, which I applied for... and a position in their call center, which I did NOT apply for and the advertisement I responded to made NO mention of. They seemed to be pimping me for the call center job, mostly, and it seemed like the most boring and scripted position imaginable. There is a reason I am not applying for call center jobs...because I don't want one. That being said, if they offer me the receptionist job, I will take it in a heartbeat.

I took Barnes Road to Burnside into Portland since I left at 8:30am and didn't want to handle 26.
This was a cool cemetary on the way into town. I love the fog.
That's muh building, way off in the distance! The pretty and tall and golden one! Also, backwards Volvo sign :P

I got into Portland ridiculously early, like an hour before my appointment, so I went around the block to Starbucks and got a hot coccoa and read "The Passage" for about half an hour. We're reading it for book club.

This is where I had my interview, in their conference room. Office was on the 17th floor! Think happy thoughts for me... I really want the receptionist job!

Day 86

Took Boone to the vet today! He was so good in the car, and everyone at the vet loved him, of course.
What's not to love? Look at that little face. He was totally healthy and weighs 10.6 pounds already... more than Charli! I'm so excited to see how big he's going to get. His parents were both 60 pounds so I hope that's about where he ends up, but I won't be surprised if he ends up at 80 or more. He has big paws, man!

Steph and Kari and I went to Thai Orchid for dinner. The food was good but oh my god, I got so sick from this orange chicken. I hardly ever have bad reactions to food but this was not a good one. Ick.

So after dinner we all drove into Portland to scope out where my job interview was, and then after that we went to Voodoo. Love the signs in their parking lot.

Cute pink building... but there were so many nasty bugs on the inside... I was not impressed. Think I'll stick to the one near Burnside.

Day 85

My friend Jordan, and my old friend Sarah are doing a singing gig together at a coffee shop in a few weeks, and they needed a photographer for some promotional photos. They asked me to be their photographer, and of course I was more than happy to do it!

This was... Bernard? He was inside Sarah's car. He's not wearing any pants!!!

June Carter and Johnny Cash? So much black, and in a graveyard....

We kept joking that these were their "engagement" photos, haha! Good lookin' kids :)

I told them my muffin joke. It made them laugh.

They had to do some rock climbing to get into this spot!

Yummy Italian Soda's at lunch!! Thanks for the treat guys :)

Day 84

Umm, yup, I have the cutest dog in the world. He had just crawled under the patio couch and got all covered in cob webs, he normally doesn't look this dirty :)

Day 83

So, just kidding about the name Leo, haha.

I got home from the gym this morning and sat down on the kitchen floor with the puppy. He was laying down but wasn't napping, he was just staring at me wagging his tail. I started calling him every name I was considering... Jack, Luke, Leo, Vincent, and all he would do is blink. He got up and walked into the hallway so I followed him, and called him Boone. He barked at me and then I kneeled down, called him Boone again, and he ran into my lap. So, his official, final, no more changes name, is Boone :)

Boone likes to sleep on his back, with his tongue sticking out. :)

Day 82

First night and full day with the puppy completed successfully! I'm tired, because the puppy is a pillow hog and had to sleep on the SAME pillow I was resting my head on, so sleeping last night was a bit interesting, hahaha, but I'm still overjoyed that I have this little guy in my life.
This was the face that greeted me when I woke up this morning :)

After debating about names for several days, and getting opinions from every facebook friend possible and a little bit of soul searching from myself, I finally decided to name the puppy Leonardo (after the artist and zee actor, I admire them both). His real name is just going to be Leo, and again, he's already coming to that name, plus, I think it suits HIM better as opposed to just going along with the movie theme. I love the name Luke... but maybe for a kid, someday.

I had to hose off my good pair of running shoes, they had been covered in mud since May and it was finally time to take care of that. Leo LOVED the hose. I tried to keep him out of the water though because you're not supposed to get young puppies wet or bathe them until they're 10-12 weeks since they're more susceptible to colds.

Leo took a running leap at me since I was on the ground with my Nikon.

Frodo is really the most amazing cat. Leo decided his new favorite toy was Frodo's tail, and Frodo just sat there letting Leo do his puppy thing.

Annnnnnd I got a callback for a job interview! I haven't been able to set up the appointment yet as I'm playing phone tag with the recruiter at the law firm, but even still, to have a callback after months of nothing? So happy :)

"It's only once you've lost everything, that you're free to do anything..."

Day 81

To start off the day, Kyle and I headed over to Enchanted Forest. Kyle just got a new job and since he's off work until he starts his new gig, it was a perfect time to get together!
Umm, excuse me, you spelled Museum wrong... haha!

We had so much fun (ZOMBIE ABE LINCOLN!!!)and talked a LOT about life changes and how important it is to be happy and healthy and fulfilled in whatever it is you're doing with your life. I'm so lucky to have a friend who tells me exactly what I need to hear, even if sometimes it takes awhile to sink in. I love you Kyle :)

Then, as soon as I got home, my Dad and Kari and I immediately got into the car and headed up to Bald Peak to get....Luke? Boone? Ridley? Still playing with names, but he's already coming to Luke, so...
Playing with his toy carrot. Already learning good eating habits ;)
Me remembering what it's like to be joyful and happy :)

Day 80

A long, but super fun and entertaining day!!
Went to the zoo with Natalie and we enjoyed the crowds and the warm weather :)
Natalie being a polar bear Mamma.

Me being a polar bear Mamma.

After the zoo we went to lunch, where we had FRIED pickles. I left my camera in the car so I wasn't able to take a picture of them, but trust me when I say, they were delicious.

Then when I got home I washed the Mini! Before and after photos!!

Nasty, dirty Mini logo with bugs on it.
So shiny you can see my reflection!!!

Day 79

Correct, 3 oz. steak at Dollar Tree. yuuuuuum. No thank you!!
We ran so many errands today! It was quite produtive and wonderful.

Puppy Chow. NASTY. I am switching my pup over to organic, wholesome food as soon as possible without upsetting his little tummy.

Two days until I bring my puppy home!! Please take note of the sweet old man in the booth behind us :)

After errands I went to deliver my cousin Erin's wedding reception photos. She gave me the most thoughtful card and actually paid me for my work, which wasn't expected at all, but very much appreciated! I have such a wonderful family/extended family :)

Monday, July 19, 2010

Day 78

I shall call today, "Ode To my Kitty Cats"
Frodo, waiting patiently for some of Kari's chicken.

That's right, my cat is a beggar.

Sunday, July 18, 2010

Day 77

BOOKS!!! Finally organized my book shelf! There's not a whole lot of order to it aside from general type of book (scifi, religious, Harry Potter, and everything else) but I love how much space I have left over!

Saturday, July 17, 2010

Day 76

I love this necklace. It might be my favorite piece of jewelry I've ever received as a gift.

Which made it all the more upsetting that I can't wear it anymore. I put it back in its original box, and hid it away inside a box full of mementos and photos that just make me sad to look at. I hope someday I'll be able to wear it again without it reminding me of the shit I've gone through in the last 4 weeks.

Day 75

For my birthday this year, I'm getting a puppy :) He's arriving a bit early, I get to bring him home on the 22nd, but that's okay with me.

There are a lot of reasons why we're bringing this dog into our family. I've been missing my baby girl. Angel passed away in early October of 09 and while I've got Anakin, who is the most amazing cat in the world... at the end of the day, he's still a cat and does his own thing. I miss my dog every day and while it's something that you learn to deal with, if you don't have that constant, unconditional love in your life, it does feel like something is missing.

Adding to the fact that, I've just plum lost a lot in the last 12 months. My dog, my job, and now worst of all, my best friend, it's just been building up to the point where I cry almost every day for one reason or another, I don't sleep well, I either starve or over-eat... it's just been a really emotional couple of months and short of going on medication, I wasn't sure what else to do. A dog seems like a small monitary investment, even in my financial bind, to invest in my happiness.

Dog food and vet bills are cheaper than anti-depressants without health insurance. Seriously.

Day 73

I took this one for you, Stephanie.

Tuesday, July 13, 2010

Day 72

Both my sister AND my personal trainer said pretty much the same thing to me today. I asked my personal trainer to give me a lecture because I've been really bad with food, and going to the gym, and instead I got an inspirational pep talk. Thank you Brandon. Then later as I was sobbing to Stephanie, she said pretty much the same thing Brandon did, but with a few more swear words:

"As soon as you realize you're better off without him, you're going to be ok, and someone who deserves you and will actually treat you right, will come along."

The discards from lunch. 2 oranges and 1.5 cups of trimmed strawberries.

Monday, July 12, 2010

Day 71

I'm amazed at how selfish people can be. I include myself in this realization to an extent, but mostly I'm just so overwhelmed with sadness and anger I feel really hopeless, and the one person who could help me get over this faster, is refusing to. And for that I am amazed at selfishness.

I was horribly and terribly let down by someone who I made very important to me, though now when I need them the most they're showing me exactly how important I was to them. Not at all.
Talk to me or pay me back was my ultimatum. The person I presented it to decided to take the easy way out. I cried when I opened this letter. I'm crying now as I write this becsuse I just can't seem to get over my sadness.

Just so you know, Matt, in case you ever read this, it was never about the money. I needed something to hang onto and get angry over instead of being overwhelmed by sadness completely, and the money allowed me to do that.

Day 70

Stephanie stomping on Jordan and Kari's feet!
